Winners are grinners

There’s something particularly satisfying about finally surpassing the team that has long served as your benchmark and challenge. For the Zoomstars, today’s victory feels even more rewarding because we came so close last year and narrowly missed out. The Panorama Mountain Men have consistently been our nemesis at the Winton 10-Hour Regularity Relay. They have always been extremely difficult to beat, with some very skilled drivers who reliably lap remarkably close to their nominated times, making each encounter a tough challenge.
Last year, we thought we had finally conquered them. The trophies were presented, and for a brief moment the victory was ours. But a scoring error discovered after the event dropped us back to second place. It was a bitter pill to swallow, especially after coming so close. Today, though, there was no such disappointment. The Zoomstars beat the Panorama Mountain Men fair and square, and it felt immensely satisfying. As team manager, I couldn’t be prouder of our drivers and volunteers. Everyone contributed, everyone played their part, and after years of chasing this result, we finally achieved it. Winning is always enjoyable, but some victories mean more than others. After all, winners are grinners.
