Using the four color personality types

I've had some good feedback about today's newsletter. I have continued to expand my topics and share what I learn in the realm of self-development, not simply the latest biohacking trick or gadget. Today's topic focused on how we can improve our communication by becoming better listeners.

The concept has been around since ancient times. There are four basic personality types. The model I referenced uses colors.

  • Yellow (the helper)
  • Blue (the partier)
  • Red (the driver)
  • Green (the analyst)

No one is purely one category, but most people generally have a dominant personality type, at least in a specific context. For example, someone may be in a management role in a job and have to be more red, but then at home they may shift into a different type around family.

As you might imagine, we tend to prefer communicating in line with our dominant personality type, so it helps to recognize your color, then the colors of others, and communicate accordingly. This strategy is especially important in marketing, discussing opportunities, and offering to potential customers and business partners. I want to build a diverse team, so even though I prefer to interact with greens, I want a mix of all the colors.
