Today's the day

Imagine you died and you were granted a special wish to go back in time and relive just one day. You wake up and it’s today.

What would you do?

I’d never complain about anything ever again.

I’d taste every morsel of food, savour every drink. Say I love you to my family more. I’m gladly take kiddy tantrums all day. I’ll work hard, but work less. I’ll make that project I’ve always wanted to make, even if I only had one day. I’ll let go of every damn consequential and inconsequential thing bothering me, and just enjoy the present.

I’d live not in the future, nor dwell in the past, but in the present moment, with an eye and hope for the future, and an appreciation of the past and how far I’ve come.

Every night we ‘die’ in sleep, and get to wake up the next day to live out that special wish.
