The iMac lives!

My 27" iMac, which I've had since 2015, has been dormant for several years. I kept it on my second desk in my bedroom, which my partner has since repurposed for her job. She dared to suggest that I get rid of it, and I hate to let a nice big screen go to waste.
While it is still perfectly functional, it's no match for the speed of my MacBook Air. My next option was to mirror my MacBook Air screen on the iMac. This is easier said than done. For some reason, there is built-in functionality to mirror the iMac to the MacBook, but the reverse simply displays the same size MacBook Air 15" with large black borders on the iMac. That sort of defeats the purpose. I want to make use of the full 27" screen, so I had to go with a third-party solution that is basically a USB-C driver to push the display and utilize the full iMac screen.
It works, but there's some lag when doing it wirelessly. When I hardwired the computers, the connection worked much better. I got the mouse working, and the last step is configuring a keyboard, which has to be set as the primary to replace the MacBook keyboard while I'm mirroring. It's a bit of a hassle, but the iMac lives, once again.
