Rough throat

I woke up this morning feeling as though I had swallowed a razor blade. My throat was incredibly sore and raw, and swallowing was certainly no fun. I hoped it might improve once I got up, had something to drink and started moving around, but unfortunately it stayed with me throughout the morning.

By lunchtime, I was starting to wonder whether I had picked up COVID again. The sore throat felt familiar, and these days it’s hard not to suspect COVID whenever something like this shows up. Rather than spend the rest of the day wondering, I decided to take a test and find out. Thankfully, the result was negative. In fact, the test confirmed that I didn’t have COVID, RSV, Influenza A or Influenza B. That was reassuring, although it didn’t make my throat feel any better.

Whatever little bug I’ve picked up has left me feeling rather miserable today. Hopefully it’s nothing more than a short-lived virus that disappears as quickly as it arrived. For now, I think the best approach is plenty of fluids, an early night, and taking things a little easier than usual. Some days I just have to accept that I’m not feeling my best and give my body time to recover.
