Online communities

I'd say LifeLog is the online community I've been part of the longest. I don't count generic social media. Of course, as old-schoolers recall, it started with 200WAD, Co-Writers, Writelier, and then just kept going. I think Sir Abe has barely kept the lights on at Adagia, and Writestreak has disappeared. So we're the last ones standing.

I started thinking about other online communities/platforms. Remember Clubhouse? It burst onto the scene about the same time as NFTs, and as far as I can tell, both are defunct. My chief complaint about Clubhouse was the sound quality. I never understood NFTs, but it truly was all hope because ones that sold for millions of dollars are now worth pennies on the dollar.

It seems the online community platform with staying power is Skool. I first learned about it through Unicorn Universe, and I have joined several groups since then. It's simple to interact, and perhaps the killer feature is how easy it is to add GIFs. I don't care what anyone says; I pronounce it with a hard G. They also gamify interactions, and the mobile app works well. I have no interest in starting a community, but I am happy to participate in others.

@therealbrandonwilson Oh man, feeling nostalgic now. The 200WAD good ol days… Didn’t know Writestreak is gone! Most writing communities have faded… only one I know still going strong is the OG 750word.com
