Looking after Louie

At six years of age, it was finally time for Louie to be desexed. He had done his breeding duty well over the years, and now it was time for the next stage of his life. Our vet had recommended the procedure, explaining that it would benefit his long-term health and wellbeing. While Louie was going to be under anaesthetic, we decided it made sense to take care of a few other things at the same time.

The vet cleaned his teeth, something that had been on the to-do list for a while, and removed a large lump from his back. Thankfully, the lump was benign, but it had gradually grown to the point that it was better to remove it than leave it. By the time all the procedures were added up, the bill certainly wasn’t getting any smaller. Like most pet owners, we had a brief moment of shock at the cost, but we knew it was money well spent. Louie’s health and comfort are worth every cent.

Since coming home, Louie has understandably been a little subdued. He is moving more slowly than usual and spending a lot of time resting. Seeing him quiet is unusual, but it is reassuring to know that everything went well. With a bit of time, care and plenty of cuddles, he’ll soon be back to his happy, playful self.
