Is that all?

It is funny to compare what I imagined before starting a workout routine with what the routine actually entails. The question at the end of both of my trainer-assisted workouts is, "Is that all?"

In my mind, I pictured moving from one machine to another, multiple sets, and at least an hour or more of activity. The reality is that you can get a solid full-body workout with about four different exercises, a warm-up, and post-stretching in about 45 minutes.

For my second session, we covered four new exercises. Some of the exercises targeted the same muscle groups in a slightly different way. For example, the chest press was slightly different than the barbell press. The back row pushed against an inclined seat mimics the seated low row. I also tackled the leg press today and learned the proper technique.

After the workout and post-stretch, my trainer remarked that I was quite flexible. I told him I've been doing weekly assisted stretch sessions for years. I also showed off my leg skills, and he was blown away. He said my superpower is my flexibility, and it will be easy for me to put on muscle.

That's three workouts in the books this week. I'll be taking it easy over the weekend, and then it's back at it on Monday.
