Identity rebrand

Do I need an identity rebrand? Reading @jasonleow this morning spurred me to reassess what I’m doing. My main problem is, of course, that I play a spread thinking of that as a strategy. But really I’m just tossing out ideas randomly and hoping one of them will hit a bullseye by chance. That’s not real strategy.
Strategy means making real bets.
A video by Jon Xu has been nagging at me: “Pick One Idea and Go Deep”. It’s one of those lessons that I don’t want to hear. A true pivot is hard to embrace because my instinct is to defend my current position. I personally think Writing Streak is a great brand name, but when I actually assess the ideas I care about and who my target audience should be, I’m probably better off identifying myself as Robb, the Rhetorical Writer.
My kairos is not the common scenario of “people trying to develop a writing habit”. My focus should be writers in a transitional period, i.e. “learning to write professionally”. To make that transition, they don’t need a writing habit, they need to understand that rhetoric determines how a text lives and dies in social systems.
It feels safe to walk around the village houses and knock on doors. The hard call is picking a direction to walk straight into the wilderness.
