Homebridge

I’m back working on my home automation, and adding Homebridge to my setup has felt like unlocking a hidden layer of potential for Apple Home. Suddenly, devices that once sat outside the ecosystem are now integrated and controllable alongside everything else, with a single tap or a quiet command to Siri. The real magic, though, lies behind the scenes.
Dummy switches, in particular, have changed how I think about automation. They act as invisible triggers, letting me build logic that Apple Home alone can’t handle. A simple virtual switch can set off a chain of events, with lights adjusting, doors locking, and notifications firing, based on conditions that feel almost intuitive. Integrating my door lock has added another level of convenience and reassurance. Now, locking up at night, I can automatically turn off lights, lock the door and set the house to a calm, secure state without a second thought.
It’s the flexibility that stands out most for me. Automations are no longer rigid; they’re dynamic, layered, and personal. Each small tweak leads to another idea, another improvement. What started as a smart home now feels like a truly responsive one, quietly shaping itself around daily life.
