Feeling peckish in the morning

I usually only have a coffee in the morning and only start to feel hungry around lunch time. But lately, I’ve been going into the kitchen in search of a healthy snack, but returning to my office empty-handed and empty-stomached.

I tried not to have healthy snacks because I don’t want to snack in the first place. I want to be OK with not eating. But I was watching Dr Andrew Huberman interview Tim Ferriss last night and they talked about the importance of having protein first thing in the morning. I thought: why not try that? It also got me to wonder if I should be upping my protein during the day, in general.

Feeling peckish could very well be due to mild dehydration as I’ve not been hydrating well for roughly the same period I’ve been feeling peckish, so today I want to up my hydration, as well.

Do you usually have breakfast? And do you tend to snack during the day?

Besides coffee, what else do you drink in the morning? Plain water? Water with electrolytes?

I think cravings/peckishness often get stronger and more frequent whenever you start on a diet change. It’s almost like cold turkey I feel…

@therealbrandonwilson Mostly plain water (and it’s usually carbonated). I used to have water with electrolytes but I’ve not been doing that recently (a few weeks now). Sometimes my coffee is bulletproof.

@jasonleow But I’ve been following the same diet for over 45 days. It’s only recently that I’m starting to feel peckish.

I would pass on the carbonation (future newsletter topic), and add back in electrolytes, maybe some lemon juice or apple cider vinegar.

Damn. I love my carbonated water 🥲

Lemon juice sounds like a great idea (even better with carbonated water 🤣). I’m taking ACV in pill form because I don’t like the taste so much. I have a bit of it in my salad, too.

@haideralmosawi Hmm 1.5 months is probably still within that transition period I feel

@therealbrandonwilson Ok I wanna know too about carbonation!
