I can’t believe it’s been more than three years since my brother and I set off on our Euroadster adventure, a ten-week odyssey driving through the UK and Europe in a Mazda MX-5. It was one of those trips that felt enormous at the start and then vanished far too quickly. We covered thousands of kilometres, drove some wonderful roads, crossed borders, and discovered places we might never otherwise have seen. Most importantly, we spent ten weeks travelling together, sharing an experience we still talk about today. My brother clearly caught the MX-5 bug as well. He enjoyed the trip so much that when he returned home, he bought an MX-5 of his own.

This week, we get to reprise our Euroadster adventure, though on a slightly smaller scale. We’re heading away for a week-long road trip through Gippsland, up into Victoria’s Alpine High Country, through the Snowy Mountains, and finishing in Sydney at the end of the week. It won’t be ten weeks in Europe, but that really doesn’t matter. We’ll have our MX-5s, some brilliant roads ahead, and, most importantly, another week travelling together. Sometimes the best adventures deserve a sequel.
