Different business models

I watched a short video from Dallas, the AI Surfer himself, in which he explained why he released the AI Surfer OS in the manner he did. First, there is an upfront, one-time fee of $997. That's what we paid in the cohort, and that's what people will pay going forward. In addition, they are now offering a Managed Care Plan (MCP), which is an unfortunate name because it reminds me too much of health insurance. The MCP grants access to bug fixes, enhancements, training, the community, and the affiliate program for $97/month.

Some people in the cohort grumbled about this shift, but Dallas said they aren't forced to join the MCP. The people who paid the initial $997 own the current version of the OS. If they are good at coding/vibe coding, they can make all the updates they want.

This approach contrasts with a typical SaaS like Salesforce, where you don't own the tool. Once you stop paying, you lose all access. The AI Surfer team took a different approach, and I like it. Considering that I just vibe-coded an app in two days, this tool is well worth the investment. People who don't see the value in the AI Surfer OS either don't see value in AI, or they just haven't spent enough time with it and don't have enough use cases to make it seem like a worthwhile investment. I cannot wait to start sharing it with people and potentially receiving another stream of income.
