Destination not journey

“Life’s a journey, not a destination.” they said.

Learn to smell the roses, enjoy the ride, don’t fixate on the endgame, don’t tunnel vision. I believed that. Truly did. Don’t be like those stories you hear, people who scrimp and save for decades, only to pass away weeks after retirement.

But lately, maybe not so much.

At least, not everything’s a journey. Some things are just better off as destinations. Some are just meant to endured. Some have no lesson hiding in hindsight, no silver lining, no growth, no “what didn’t kill me made me stronger” effects, no trophy of participation at the finish line. These things offer no point of view, no illuminating insight, no grand homecoming.

They just happen.
You brace through it.
And move on.
That’s it.

Sometimes, some seasons of life are just destinations.

And it’s okay.
