A cashier who checks you out fast and fuss-free, with a bright smile.
A community worker who knows every client’s story and pet peeves.
A traditional shokunin (職人) artisan in Japan, sweating over details no one notices.

There’s something reassuring about people like that, especially when you work with them.

You know you can count on them.
You know they know their stuff.
You know they can deliver.

Even if you don’t work with them, it’s still reassuring nonetheless, that in this world of fast, shiny, empty things, in an era of AI slop, there are people who stick to the fundamentals, to the traditions, and do what is needed to bring that to life. That integrity, honor, and pride in one’s work still matters.
