Costs

Your new life will cost you your old one.
That’s the real cost.
Not the monetary cost of moving your stuff to another city or country.
Not the opportunity cost of leaving a place where you know you can find work
Not the social capital cost of going cold on family, friends, and ex-colleagues.
The real cost is the old life, the familiar rhythm, the comfortable way of relating to others, to society that you had grew up with, so painstakingly set up, over the years, decades.
But there comes a time staying with an old life will cost you more, than the cost of dropping it for a new life.
There comes a time when you can no longer turn a blind eye to the things that frustrate you, the toxic things that you cannot bear no longer.
There comes a time when staying meant stunted growth, or no growth at all. Or worse, a comfortable but slow decay.
Either way, it’s gonna cost ya.
Make sure it’s a cost you want to pay for.
