Confusion

Survival and stress kept you going.
The adrenaline, the cortisol, the trhill, fuelled you.

But keep at it long enough, the adrenaline starts to feel like purpose.

The thing that kept you going to reach your goal, became the goal.
The means became the ends.

You forget the goal, and now you’re just fighting.
The fight alone keeps you in the arena.
Not what you get after the fight.
Not what got you into the fight.

For a while, your life might feel accomplished. Full. Interesting, even.
But soon enough, the holes start showing. The hollowness starts echoing.

And then confusion.
You thought this what what you wanted.

But you had simply forgotten.
