Car Insurance

The insurance company I choose for my vehicles promotes itself with the slogan, “Insurance for the motoring enthusiast.” This slogan resonates with me as a car lover, which is one reason I trust them for coverage. My wife and I insure three cars and a trailer through this policy, in addition to our home and contents. This arrangement allows me to benefit from a multi-policy discount, though it’s difficult to determine if I truly enjoy savings due to holding multiple policies.

With multiple cars in my fleet, I frequently adjust my policy based on how I use my vehicles. For instance, when I’m not driving my MX-5 roadster every day, I lower the coverage to limited use. This means my insurance company expects that I’ll drive it once or twice a week, allowing them to adjust the premium accordingly.

No insurance company will provide coverage for driving a car at high speeds on a race track, and I no longer operate my track car on public roads, having removed its registration. Nevertheless, I have obtained “laid up” insurance for my track car, which protects my vehicle while it is being towed on my trailer. Additionally, I have insurance for my trailer in case it sustains damage during towing. This careful blending of car insurance ensures I have adequate risk coverage and helps minimise costs.
