Building quietly

Building in public versus building in private.

Lately, I’ve been doing more of the latter, just building in private, in peace, quietly, calmly.

And it’s been really nice.

I mean, I still do share a bit from time to time, but not in the same intensity and fervour of building in public to build an audience. I just share when I feel like it on Twitter (which is rare these days, like once a month rare). I continue to log my daily tasks on WIP.co and write about it on Lifelog sometimes. And even when sharing, it is mostly in smaller, closed, psuedo-public communities.

And that might just be the trick, the perfect point of balance.

Private enough to build in peace, progress calmly and quietly, and not get distracted by others or draw too much attention for competitors to jump on it, but also not completely in stealth and silence… just slightly public and open enough for selected groups of friends to bear witness, occasionally. Friends who can see your growth in the roots, not the noise.
