Back to the acupuncturist

I was surprised that it had been almost four years since I last visited an acupuncturist. I wrote about that experience in a previous newsletter. The purpose of my visits then was to remedy pain in my hands. Thankfully, that issue is gone. This visit was more of an exploration since the acupuncturist works in the office as my new doctor.

When he asked me what I wanted to focus on, I mentioned some left knee and right shoulder pain. I also discussed metabolism and glucose control. I also mentioned the rash that still hasn't gone away. He then did cupping on both knees, followed by acupuncture. Curiously, the acupuncture points he stimulated on my left foot somehow immediately improved my shoulder. The visit lasted over ninety minutes, and I was feeling much better when I left.

I had forgotten how effective acupuncture is, and I'm glad I had this experience. I plan to come in regularly, and these treatments will complement the work I'm doing with my new doctor.

Of course, the advice is almost always the same. Exercise more and improve diet. It's the fundamentals and what I share in practically every newsletter. Sooner or later, it will sink in, and I'll follow my own advice subconsciously.
