August 2026 Review

August feels like a fresh start.

After being tied down by work for the past few months, I finally had more time to look at my own products, clean things up, and think about what I actually want to focus on next.

Health

I made health one of my priorities for August, but sadly my progress wasn’t great.

I was down with influenza for almost a week, followed by another week dealing with the after-effects. Overall, my health wasn’t great throughout August.

I did start paying more attention to what I eat, which is at least a small start, but I didn’t manage to get back into even light exercise.

Hopefully September will be better.

Product & Hosting Cleanup

This is probably my biggest achievement for August.

It actually started at the end of July during my solo trip, when I finally had some time to sit down and look through everything I had built.

I cleaned up most of my products and closed down most of the SaaS projects. For now, I’m only keeping two Chrome extension projects active.

Besides products, I also started cleaning up my servers and upgrading my client projects to the latest framework versions.

Thanks to AI, work like framework upgrades that used to be difficult and time-consuming has become surprisingly manageable. It makes cleaning up years of technical debt much easier than it used to be.

New Products

Funny enough, while I was busy cleaning up products, I also built quite a few new things since my solo trip at the end of July. 😅

I haven’t had time to properly sort through or share all of them yet.

One of the latest is a native iOS companion app for CodexBar, which should hopefully be released soon.

So yeah… I closed down a bunch of products and somehow still ended up building new ones.

Hopefully I can clean up the rest and decide what deserves to continue in September.

AI Native

I kept investing time in tweaking my AI workflow.

Codex is still one of my main tools, and I even upgraded to the Pro plan during August.

At the same time, I’m still trying to figure out how to make Hermes and Codex work better together. I have some ideas around how I want the whole workflow to work, but it is definitely still a work in progress.

There’s still a long way to go, but at least it’s moving.

That’s August

That’s pretty much my August.

Health didn’t go according to plan, but I made some pretty big progress cleaning up my products, servers, and old technical debt. At the same time, I’m still building new things and figuring out my AI-native workflow.

Most importantly, after being tied down by that mega freelance project for the past few months, August finally felt different.

A little more space. A little more freedom.

September should be interesting.
