It is hard to believe just how close our victory at the Winton 10-Hour really was. We knew throughout the weekend that our main competition, the Panorama Mountain Men, would be difficult to beat, but I don’t think any of us realised that after ten hours it would come down to less than a single lap. My team, the Zoomstars, finished with 387 laps against a goal of 662, for 58.46%. The Panorama Mountain Men completed 392 of their 672 goal laps for 58.33%. If we take just one lap away from our total, we would have finished second. That really puts the achievement into perspective.

Over ten hours, every driver had moments when they squeezed in one more lap before pitting or took advantage of an opportunity on track. This weekend, one of those laps was literally the difference between winning and losing. Every lap mattered. There are lessons for next year too, particularly about whether to pit during yellow-flag periods, when staying on track might give us another valuable lap. But beyond the numbers, the best part was the camaraderie. After years of chasing Panorama Mountain Men, finally winning was incredibly satisfying, but doing it together as a team made it even sweeter.
