A perfect day

Spring in Melbourne is hard to beat when the weather is on your side. Today was one of those perfect days: blue skies, sunshine, and a temperature around 26°C. Even better, the forecast suggests we might enjoy more of the same over the next five days. I made the most of the morning by getting out early for a bike ride. There’s something enjoyable about riding on a warm spring morning before the day really gets going. Later, my wife and I walked the dogs down to the shops, another excuse to be outside rather than sitting at home.

Then my wife suggested we play some pickleball. I hadn’t planned it, but on a day like this, it seemed almost criminal to say no. It became another enjoyable way to spend time outdoors together, get some exercise and have a bit of fun along the way. Days like today remind me how much the weather can shape a weekend. Nothing particularly extraordinary happened, yet between the bike ride, walking the dogs, and playing pickleball with Jane, it felt like a well-spent day. Sometimes good weather is all the encouragement needed to get outside and enjoy where we live.
