A long day of work

There is always a certain amount of risk when I start a networking job for work. No matter how well it is planned, there is always the possibility that something will take longer than expected, and today has certainly been one of those days.
I left home at 7.00 this morning for the drive to Morwell, expecting to get the work done and be heading back at a reasonable hour. Instead, I am still here, working alongside my technician as we run some additional cables and get everything connected to the network. What looked straightforward at the beginning of the day has gradually stretched into a much longer job.
It would be easy to feel frustrated, particularly after the early start and knowing there is still a drive home ahead of me. But I probably shouldn’t complain too much. Days like this are actually quite rare for me. More often than not, I manage to finish work at a reasonable time, and I’m sometimes fortunate enough to get away early.
So, while today has turned into a long one, it is really just part of the job. Sometimes you simply have to stay until the work is finished, knowing that tomorrow will hopefully be a little easier.
