A different November

For most of my life, I have followed society's lazy river when it comes to the holidays. All the potlucks and get-togethers add up to eating like crap, and my penchant for not exercising ends up causing me to go backward. This November will be different.
For one, I am committed to going to the gym at least three days per week. I was there yesterday for a solo session, and tomorrow and Friday will be sessions with my trainer. I have already noticed a subtle shift in my decisions. I'm putting all this investment and effort into getting stronger and healthier, which makes it less likely that I will make poor health decisions.
Regarding food intake, my doctor recommended a 14-day reset program that includes supplements, a shake, some fasting, and eventually a reasonably healthy meal. Looking at the calendar, I want to start and finish this program before Thanksgiving, when my partner and I will be in Vegas. Yes, I'm planning to celebrate with a nice Thanksgiving buffet.
It's not easy to go against the grain of my years of experience and society's pressures, but I am determined to end 2026 strong and launch into 2027 to make my 50th year on this earth memorable.
Does that 14-day reset decrease energy intake? If you’re also increasing energy expenditure, is there a danger you might trigger your metabolism to lock-down energy stores?
